SEMINAR DETAILS

This two-day seminar will focus on Avidog’s scientifically based breeding strategies for stud dogs, timing of breedings as well as fitness for breeding and non-breeding dogs:

Saturday (Stud Dogs & Timing Breedings)

  • Stud dogs are an essential part of the breeding process but much of what happens with them seems like Greek to many of us: morphology and motility, first fraction or second, bent tails and proximal droplets, chill tests and post-thaw results.
  • Canids, including domestic dogs, have some reproductive idiosyncrasies that can make breeding them challenging. Poor timing remains the top reason that bitches don’t get pregnant or have small litters.

Sunday (Fit To Be Tied & Fit For Life) – Working Dogs

  • Properly conditioned stud dogs and brood bitches will be more successful as breeding animals! They will be more fertile and able to breed, whelp and raise puppies. In addition, fit dogs are likely to suffer less stress and this translates to healthier puppies and greater stamina and longevity. Gayle will review how to evaluate your dogs’ fitness and which exercises to do when while breeding.
  • Designed by Drs. Chris Zink and Dr. Gayle Watkins to improve the fitness, health and longevity of any dog from 6 months through the senior years. This program works for all dogs, from pets to top-flight athletes. We will start with how to evaluate your dog’s fitness and then focus on how to teach some of the exercises in the Fit for Life program.

Both days use lecture, videos and demonstrations to illustrate key concepts. After the seminar, all participants will have access to a private resource page on the Avidog website and be invited to join the closed Avidog® Puppy Evaluation Facebook page where we continue the discussions started at the seminar.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

The seminar has something to offer any serious dog person but will have particular appeal to:

  • present and future dog breeders of competition, working and pet dogs
  • working dog owners and handlers
  • performance dog owners
  • dog trainers

COMMENTS FROM PAST PARTICIPANTS

forward manner while still being very entertaining. Her methodology on puppy testing is revolutionary and will change the way we place our puppies. Her method of testing is not only easy to implement, but it is intuitive and repeatable. Her seminar will teach even the most
experienced breeders something new

Debra

Avidog seminar? I would miss a dog show, an agility trial….heck, maybe even my own wedding to attend another seminar…

Sharon

It has often been said that the average presenter informs, the good presenter persuades and the great presenter inspires. Gayle definitely belongs in the latter category. I have never been to a workshop where so many people had such profound shifts in thinking and such enormous learning, regardless of background, experience, interest or breed.
